Before joining Hartman, Harman & Cosco as a partner, Scott served as Director of Business Development and External Affairs for Custom Business Solutions, LLC, and was responsible for client management.

Before joining CBSWV, he was the Manager of Governmental and External Affairs for Frontier Communications, responsible for working with government officials on telecommunications and broadband-related matters.

Prior to Frontier, Scott served in several capacities for Governor (now United States Senator) Joe Manchin.  As Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, he was responsible, on behalf of the Governor, for the research and appointment of more than 2,000 people to West Virginia’s various boards and commissions.

In addition, he was appointed Manchin’s State representative for the National Governors Association, and Southen Governors Association.  In this capacity, he represented the State of West Virginia, served as the Governor’s voting proxy, and provided the Governor information and insight regarding issues being addressed by those groups.  Also, during a portion of his time in the Governor’s Office, he served as Director of Constituent Services.

Scott worked as Director of the West Virginia SHARES Program from 2001 to 2004, when Manchin was Secretary of State.  He was responsible for helping Manchin register 41,000 high school seniors to vote.  He also worked for six years as Director of Creative Services for WOWK-TV in the Charleston/Huntington market.

Scott has serves on the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee, the Marshall University William Page Pitt School of Journalism  and Mass Communications Advisory Council, as well as previously serving on the West Virginia Business and Industry Council Executive Committee, and as Chairman of the West Virginia Utilities, Telecommunications and Energy Coalition (UTEC).  He is also a 2012 graduate of Leadership West Virginia.

Scott studied journalism at West Virginia University before earning his bachelor’s degree in communications from Marshall University.  He lives in Hurricane with his wife Kathy and their two young adults.
