EPEC director awarded advocacy award by W.Va. Coalition Against Domestic Violence

MARTINSBURG — Awarded for her dedication to raising awareness and advocating for the rights of every person regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation or financial status, Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center Director Katie Spriggs was named one of two Diane Reese Advocacy Award winners statewide.
According to Katie Spriggs, the goal of the Diane Reese Advocacy Award, presented by the West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, is to honor someone who works in the field across the state who dedicates their time and efforts to address, raise awareness for and create pathways to ending domestic violence felt by men, women, children and nonbinary peoples throughout the state.
Spriggs said winners were chosen from one of the 14 licensed domestic violence programs throughout the state, and it was during a virtual call with the coalition and the 14 other program directors that she was told she had won.
